Take a look at what we can do for your school...
Creating a marketing strategy
What are your marketing objectives? How can you best achieve them? Simple solutions work best. And, the most effective marketing methods are not always the most expensive. We’ll give you an honest view and outline costs.
Identifying and generating ‘good news’ stories or examples of excellence is at the heart of any school marketing strategy. Media coverage even on a local level enhances your school’s reputation - but every story must be packaged properly, making it irresistible to your target media. We work closely with journalists across all media (TV, radio, newspapers, specialist education publications and websites).
Short, fast-moving news videos are an effective way to raise your profile and drive traffic to your website. A snappy 60-second news video of a special event can be seen by thousands via social media. We can also storyboard and shoot a video prospectus that captures the best of your school. Videos are also a great way of involving students...on both sides of the lens.
This video by Tick Media turns the spotlight on the WW1 Aintree and Melling project supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Schools in the Aintree and Melling areas of Merseyside worked alongside community groups, local organisations and individuals to commemorate the 81 soldiers from their local communities who died in the Great War. The project was also supported by Sefton Libraries. Schools taking part included Aintree Davenhill Primary School, Holy Rosary Primary School and Melling Primary School.

Media and marketing training
We offer customised training aimed at headteachers, SLTs, governors and those tasked with a publicity or marketing role to equip you with the skills to run your own successful PR campaigns and cope effectively in the media spotlight. We'll teach you how the media operate and how best to work with the media - not against them.
Crisis media management
What to do, what NOT to do! We can’t promise to make a crisis vanish. Sometimes a school needs professional help when a crisis breaks. We can help manage and control media coverage, working closely with senior staff and governors, and dealing directly with the media on your behalf, steering the school towards calmer waters.

Schools are embracing social media - notably Twitter, Flickr, YouTube and Instagramas an effective way of engaging with pupils and parents. We can get you up and running, and steer you clear of pitfalls.
Take control. A good system should feature an easy-to-use content management system (CMS). We can work with you to create a mobile friendly, modern website. School news, social media feeds, photos, policies - they should all be on your website. We can also advise on child photo consent, Child Exploitation & Online Protection (CEOP) and internet safety issues.
Does your school badge or logo need a makeover? Or maybe just freshening up? Many school crests are not optimised for the modern, digital age. We can work with your senior leadership team, parents, governors or pupils on creative concepts.
Internal and external signage is part of how your school communicates. Consistency with your school branding is important.
Stepping out of your comfort zone is a great learning experience. It can be pretty scary too. Half-day presentation training workshops can help staff, governors or PTA members develop skills and build confidence for when they address adult audiences, e.g. speech days, curriculum meetings for parents, Inset days or conferences.
Speeches can make or break a reputation. They are great opportunity to shine - yet anything from a welcome speech to a keynote address can be daunting. Don’t leave it to chance. We will draft your speech and coach you to ensure your speech is a memorable success.
Tick Media runs practical workshops for students, giving an insight into how the media landscape is changing, practical tips on news gathering, developing effective styles and formats for different audiences PLUS how key events in history would be reported today using podcasts, videos and social media. Fun and informative.
The Tick Media team has experience of organising events and managing the publicity surrounding them. This can include arranging media partners, sourcing sponsorship or securing high profile support from celebrities, business leaders or political figures.
